2. 24 yards to Cabbiness

The 24-yard Cale Cabbiness reception at Boise State remains one of OSU’s best 2021 highlights. The game-sealing reception came late in the fourth quater, when the Cowboys needed one more first down to run out the clock, clinging to a one-point lead against the Broncos. This catch also came after a crucial late-game blocked field goal.

If Cabbinness didn’t make this catch, the Cowboys would’ve handed the ball to Boise State to give the Broncos one more chance to score and win. Instead, OSU emerged with a key road win from a location that’s notoriously to emerge victorious.

In an odd twist, the Cowboys threw for only 82 yards in the win as they relied on the ground to come from behind and beat Boise State.

1. Collin Oliver’s game-clinching sack vs. OU

This No. 1 play of 2021 needs no introduction for OSU fans. With the angst enveloping Boone Pickens Stadium for every orange-clad supporter, Collin Oliver made the game-sealing sack on OU quarterback Caleb Williams to help OSU win Bedlam by a score of 37-33.

The Bedlam win was OSU’s first in the series in seven years, helping the Cowboys end a frustrating losing streak against their biggest in-state rivals. OU nose-dived after this loss, with head coach Lincoln Riley moving on to become USC’s new coach just hours later during the following Sunday afternoon. He would be followed by several high-profile Sooner high school commitments.
