4. Jaylen Warren for 75

In only OSU’s second possession of the game, the Cowboys were already trailing 10-0 on the road and things were starting to look grim. The Pokes had only gained two yards on their first possession and the home crowd was getting raucous in front of the famed blue turf in Boise, Idaho.

To make matters worse, LD Brown had just gone out with an injury. That left the pressure on a new incoming transfer from Utah State named Jaylen Warren. After gaining only 46 yards on 20 combined carries from the first two games, Warren took his second carry of the night on a simple-looking off-tackle play and took it to the house for a 75-yard touchdown run.

The run started a four-game stretch for Warren in which he gained 659 rushing yards total, the nation’s best mark of any player in that time span. The Cowboys would go on to defeat Boise State, Kansas State, Baylor, and Texas, the latter three of whom were all ranked teams.

Besides bringing OSU back to life early in the game against the Broncos, the touchdown run remains Warren’s longest gain of the season.

3. Pick-six in Austin

OSU safety Jason Taylor II made a memorable interception and touchdown return to help the Cowboys defeat Texas on the road.

With OSU trailing 17-3 before halftime against the Longhorns, Spencer Sanders had just thrown an interception. Texas advanced to the OSU 15-yard line and was poised to put the game out of reach. Instead, Taylor made the interception on Longhorns quarterback Casey Thompson and raced untouched for 85 yards to the Texas end zone.

The Cowboys, after falling behind 24-13 at one point in the third quarter, would clamp down defensively and go on to defeat the Longhorns.

This come-from-behind 32-24 win vaulted the Cowboys into the Top 10 in the AP poll. It was also Mike Gundy’s fourth triumph in Austin within the last decade against four different Texas head coaches.
