5. West Virginia Mountaineers

Results: 92-75 Loss, 82-75 Win

Opponent Seed in NCAA Tournament: 4

The best win the Cowboys had on their resume this season was a road win against then ranked no. 7 West Virginia in Morgantown. Yet, WVU also handed the Pokes their first conference loss of the season. That loss also kicked off the Pokes six-game losing streak at the start of the Big 12 slate.

WVU ended up losing their second consecutive Big 12 Championship Game, but that did not seem to affect their seeding in the eyes of the Selection Committee. They still have one of the best defenses and deepest teams in the entire field of the NCAA Tournament.

The Mountaineers are also the third-highest seed from the Big 12 in the NCAA Tournament. Yet, they drew a tough opponent from a 13 seed in the Bucknell Bison in the Round of 64 in the West Region.

WVU is also one of only two Big 12 teams on this list that OK State actually got a victory against this season. Either way, they’ll be a tough out for any team in the Tournament during March Madness.
