3. Keondre Wudtee

Height: 6’4″

Weight: 210 Pounds

Year: Redshirt Freshman

The hype surrounding redshirt freshman quarterback Keondre Wudtee has grown this offseason. The Bossier City, LA, product signed with the Cowboys as a three-star commit in the 2016 recruiting class. Wudtee has a strong arm that helps him make all the throws you need to in a spread offense.

This might not seem like the most obvious choice for third string quarterback, but there’s something intriguing about Wudtee’s place in the Cowboy offense.

According to The Oklahoman’s Kyle Fredrickson, Wudtee’s release looks much better this Spring than when he came into the program last season. His quick improvement bodes well for his chances at the backup job behind Rudolph.

The most important part about the battle for the backup quarterback position is the implications for the starting job in 2018 after Rudolph leaves. Since he will be entering his sophomore campaign, Wudtee would be a prime candidate to takeover that starting job for the 2018 season if he proves himself in the year and a half before then.
