Oklahoma State Football: Top ten players to watch in Spring Practice
3. Jeff Carr
Position: Running Back
Year: Junior
Jeff Carr got very little playing time in 2016 after having a solid freshman campaign in 2015. There were two main reasons for that. One was the emergence of Hill and Carson at running back. And two was the decreased need for a pass-catcher out of the backfield.
However, Carson is now gone and Carr is the second most experience running back on the Cowboy roster. Carr has 287 rushing yards and two touchdowns during his two year career in Stillwater. Whether he backs up Hill doesn’t matter, his experience is much needed for the influx of running back talent entering OK State in the Fall.
There is little doubt about Carr’s talent as an elusive back and a pass-catcher which makes him a good fit for the Cowboy scheme. But the running game has improved very much since 2015 and if Carr does not improve as well then he could be left in the dust.
A return to the same role and form that Carr had during his freshman season in 2015 could start to take shape within the coming months.
