Morning Links: Oklahoma State in Top 25, Big 12 Things, Notable NFL Moments
A look around the world of noteworthy Oklahoma State Cowboys news and notes, as well as other relevant sports stories.
Another week of college football in the books, and there is still a lot up in the air, Stillwater included.
Stillwater and Beyond
- Yes, Mason Rudolph threw for over 400 yards on Saturday, but there were plenty of mistakes. Gundy’s assessment? “He was good…He could’ve been much better.”
- The Cowboys somehow managed to crack the Top 25, with West Virginia and Kansas State trending upwards.
- I was a *little* pessimistic immediately after the UCA game. Expect a calmer assessment later today.
This still hasn’t gotten old:
And this play from former OSU running back Joseph Randle hasn’t gotten old either:
Mike Gundy sure noticed it:
- Here’s a quick Q&A with Cowboy safety Jordan Sterns.
- Robert Allen of GoPokes.com breaks down the good and bad of the UCA game. As a former offensive lineman, he makes some keen observations of some of the problems with the unit so far.
This will probably be a common thing throughout the season:
- Pistols Firing compiled some good quotes following the Central Arkansas game, including this great one from Glenn Spencer about the lack of turnovers: “I was just looking at the stat sheet here and we were better on third down, we tackled better. Not pleased that we can’t get a turnover. I think this week I’m just going to not talk about it and try that route…They played well.”
Elsewhere and Otherwise
- Saturday Blitz has a way-too-early College Football Playoff projection, which includes two Big Ten teams.
- Jeff Kubiszyn believes that the Texas Longhorns have definitely found their new quarterback in Jerrod Heard.
- Speaking of finding quarterbacks, it appears that Kansas State should be ok moving forward with Joe Hubener. The Wildcats also made the Cowboys’ upcoming game with UTSA look a little easier.
Dez Bryant may have broken his foot last night, but don’t tell him not to celebrate an incredible win afterwards.
- How about that OU win? Baker Mayfield is proving that he is a tough-minded dude.
- Texas Tech put up some Mike Leach numbers in their win over UTEP.
