Oklahoma State vs Iowa State Odds: Line, Spread, Over/Under
Coming off a close loss to Texas, the 10-8 Oklahoma State Cowboys host the 14-5 Iowa State Cyclones tonight at 7:00 PM CST. WynnBET has the Cowboys as 3.5-point favorites and -170 on the moneyline (bet $17 to win $10) while the over-under is 127.5.
Facing a Cyclones team that has lost four of five, can bettors find value in the Cowboys tonight?
Oklahoma State vs Iowa State Prediction
As is the case with most Big 12 teams, Oklahoma State has a fantastic defense. Bart Torvik has them 7th in the country in adjusted defensive efficiency behind the 11th-ranked 2-point defense and 12th-best defensive turnover rate.
Their struggles have been on the offensive end, where they’re 214th in 2-point shooting and 326th in 3-point shooting. In their last five games, they’ve only scored more than 60 once (albeit in an impressive road win against Baylor).
As a team, they profile similarly to Iowa State, whose 4th-ranked adjusted defensive efficiency and 4th-ranked defensive turnover percentage makes them one of the best defenses in college basketball. But their 275th-best offensive turnover percentage leaves them with a lot of empty possessions like we saw in their last game against TCU when they scored just 44 points.
Unfortunately for the Cowboys, however, this sets up as a situational spot that Iowa State excels in and Oklahoma State struggles in. Iowa State is 7-2 against the spread as an underdog this season, and they even won five of those nine games outright. Meanwhile, the Cowboys haven’t covered in five straight games as favorites (including four straight as home favorites).
I think Iowa State is due for some positive shooting regression against a Cowboys squad that can be beat from the outside. With that in mind and the situation trends at play, I’ll be taking the Cyclones +3.5 as my best bet, though I think the moneyline odds at +145 are worth a long look as well.
It wouldn’t surprise me if this line closed at 3, so hurry if you want to take advantage of the Cyclones’ underdog success. Head on over to WynnBET and place your bet before the line has a chance to move.
