6-foot-8
Those six feet, eight inches, and 320 pounds belong to Calvin Harvey, a new addition to the OSU offensive line out of Houston. Gundy also expressed optimism in working with a player of Harvey’s size — and certainly with time in the Cowboys’ strength and conditioning program, he could be an asset for OSU’s O-line for years to come.
Barring any surprise growth spurts over the summer, Harvey would become OSU’s tallest football player next year. Rising junior Caleb Etienne, a fellow offensive lineman, is listed at 6-foot-7.
Six
OSU landed six four-star prospects, remarkable for the school when you consider that the Cowboys landed a trio of four-star prospects altogether from the past two recruiting classes in 2019 and 2020.
Players like Ollie Gordon chose OSU after interest from BYU and Arkansas. Desean Brown, a defensive end from Choctaw High School, chose OSU over Missouri, Baylor, and Arizona State.
49
The 49-game win streak by the Bixby Spartans wouldn’t have been possible without Braylin Presley, the 2021 Oklahoma Gatorade Player of the Year. He scored 27 total touchdowns his senior season and led an offense that averaged more than 60 points per game at the 6A-II level.
Funny enough, this Bixby streak barely eclipsed a 48-game winning streak that was helped put into place by Malcolm Rodriguez, a 2021 All-American.
17
OSU signed 17 players overall in its 2022 recruiting class. There’s room in terms of scholarships for a couple of things to happen with the transfer portal, but that won’t be immediately clear right now. At this time, it does not appear that there will be much news from the spring recruiting signing day from Stillwater.
No. 6
Tayln Shettron is the sixth-highest rated high school recruit in OSU history, according to the metrics used by 247Sports. Since 2000 (as far back as the data goes), he ranks behind only Bobby Reid, Xavier Lawson-Kennedy, Dez Bryant, Richetti Jones, and Herschel Sims.
Expectations will be big in year one for the Edmond Santa Fe standout, who chose OSU over reported offers from Oklahoma, Auburn, and Baylor.
