Six former Oklahoma State athletes will compete at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, which will conclude Aug. 8. Below is information about each athlete who was once a Cowboy or Cowgirl and when you can watch them compete.

Six former OSU athletes will compete at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games in several different sports. Here’s a little bit about each of them.

Adrianna Franch, Soccer, United States

Franch, from Salina, Kansas, will play goalkeeper for the USA Soccer Women’s National Team. She has been heralded as the best to ever play her college soccer career in Stillwater from 2009-12.

Franch still holds the record for most shutouts at OSU with 36, which is also the sixth-most in NCAA history. She was a three-time All-American at OSU and also earned first-team All-Big 12 honors every season.

Before her college career even concluded, Franch became the first Cowgirl to ever play for a U.S. national soccer team after being called up to the Under-20 team in 2010.

Although she was first called up to the senior team in 2012 in preparation for the upcoming Olympics in London, the Tokyo Games will be Franch’s first Olympic experience.

Quarterfinal action for women’s football starts Friday, July 30.

Viktor Hovland, Golf, Norway

Hovland has recently become the new face of the OSU golf dynasty, and, now, he’s taking that brand to the biggest international stage. He will compete in men’s golf individually while representing Norway in his first Olympic Games.

Hovland, from Oslo, Norway, has done nothing but make golf history for his home country since leaving OSU and turning pro. He became the first Norwegian to ever get a win on both the PGA Tour and European Tour with wins at the 2020 Puerto Rico Open and 2021 BMW International Open, respectively.

Hovland was a national champion and Ben Hogan Award honoree during his OSU career from 2016-19.

First-round action for men’s golf starts on Wednesday.

Caroline Masson, Golf, Germany

Masson will compete in women’s golf individually while representing Germany.

Masson played only one season at OSU in 2008-09 before turning pro. Since, she has competed in the Ladies European Tour and LPGA Tour, notching two professional wins.

The first round of women’s golf starts on Aug. 3.

Nick Miller, Track & Field, Great Britain

Miller will represent Great Britain at the Olympics for the second time in his international career. He will compete in the men’s hammer throw.

Miller, from Cumbria, England, competed at OSU from 2012-16. In 2016, he won the national title in hammer throw at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. He was the first Cowboy to ever win a national championship in a throws event.

Miller first represented Great Britain at the 2016 Rio Games, where he placed 22nd. He and J.W. Mashburn are the only former OSU athletes to qualify for the Olympics in track and field more than once.

Qualification for men’s hammer throw starts Aug. 1. Competition for medals will be Aug. 4.

Alex Noren, Golf, Sweden

Noren left his hometown of Stockholm to play for OSU from 2001-04 before turning pro in 2005.

Noren was an honorable mention All-American his junior season at OSU in 2003-04.

As a pro, Noren has 11 wins in the European and PGA tours. This year, at 39, Noren matched his highest ranking of eighth, which he originally met in May 2017.

Lauren Regula, Softball, Canada

Regula will represent Canada in an Olympic games for the third time as a pitcher.

Regula also competed in the 2004 Athens and 2008 Beijing games, tallying five wins in the circle in her Olympic career.

At OSU from 2000-03, Regula was an All-Big 12 honoree every season and earned first-team All-American honors after her senior season. She was also named Big 12 Player of the Year and OSU Female Athlete of the Year as a senior after posting a 0.82 ERA and striking out 451 batters.
