Big 12 Bowl Games, 2021-2022

(all times listed as C.T.)

ServPro First Responder Bowl — ACC/AAC/Big 12

Gerald J. Ford Stadium (Dallas, Tex.)

Dec. 28, 2:15 p.m. on ESPN

The ServPro First Responder Bowl, formerly known as the Heart of Dallas Bowl, has taken place since 2011. OSU played in this bowl once on Jan. 1, 2013 following the 2012 season, resulting in a 58-14 shellacking of Purdue.

OSU wants to avoid playing a mediocre ACC squad or up-and-coming AAC team in this early bowl. Last season’s game featured Louisiana defeating UTSA.

AutoZone Liberty Bowl — Big 12 vs. SEC

Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium (Memphis, Tenn.)

Dec. 28, 5:45 p.m. on ESPN

OSU has appeared in the Liberty Bowl once, winning a 38-33 contest against current SEC and former Big 8/Big 12 foe Missouri in 2018. The game was Tigers quarterback Drew Lock’s final collegiate game before being drafted by the Denver Broncos in the next spring’s NFL Draft.

Though the drive is an easy one across I-40 for many OSU fans, the Cowboys will aspire for a better destination in 2021. In last year’s Liberty Bowl, West Virginia defeated Army, 24-21.

Guaranteed Rate Bowl — Big 12 vs. Big Ten

Chase Field (Phoenix, Ariz.)

Dec. 28, 9:15 p.m. on ESPN

The Guaranteed Rate Bowl has gone through many different naming iterations since 1989, including the Copper, the Insight, and the Cactus Bowl. OSU has appeared in this game twice, a 49-33 defeat of Indiana in 2007 and a 30-22 victory against Washington in 2015.

Though last year’s game didn’t feature a conference team, Big 12 squads have won this game six years in a row. Last year, Air Force defeated Washington State, 31-21.
