Oklahoma St. football: Game-by-game predictions for 2021 season
By John Scimeca
Big 12 Championship Game – Saturday, Dec. 4, 2021
Under these current predictions for OSU’s 2021 football season, it’s highly unlikely, though not mathematically impossible, for the Cowboys to reach the Big 12 championship game. OSU has never competed in the conference title game, as its only Big 12 title came in 2011 with only 10 member schools remaining (Nebraska and Colorado had just departed to the Big Ten and Pac-12, respectively).
Bowl game: Alamo Bowl vs. Utah
The Valero Alamo Bowl, which normally takes place in late December of each year, features two of the best non-New Year’s Six participants from the Big 12 and Pac-12 conferences. Last year, Texas defeated Colorado by a score of 55-23.
The Alamo Bowl began play in 1993, OSU has appeared in the contest four times. The two Cowboys victories have come in their two most recent appearances, including a 38-8 victory against then-No. 10 Colorado in 2016.
I predict that OSU will draw Utah in this game, as I see the Utes competing for (but ultimately falling short) of the Pac-12’s South Division crown against Arizona State. If this does indeed fall into place, the Cowboys would face Baylor transfer quarterback Charlie Brewer, who joined the Utes this past offseason after throwing for 9,700 passing yards and 65 touchdowns during his Bears career.
Final Score: OSU 38, Utah 21 (10-3, 6-3 Big 12)
