Oklahoma St. football: Game-by-game predictions for 2021 season
By John Scimeca
Week 10: at West Virginia (Nov. 6)
West Virginia improved last year in head coach Neal Brown’s second season, finishing 6-4 with its first postseason victory (a Liberty Bowl win against Army) in five years. The team had finished 5-7 in 2019. West Virginia’s defense led the Big 12 in points allowed (20.5 per game) and yards per play (4.65) last season.
WVU hopes that quarterback Jarret Doege can rediscover his 2019 performance against OSU — 28 completions for 307 passing yards in a 20-13 Pokes win. If he doesn’t, then expect the Cowboys to make it seven victories in a row against the Mountaineers.
Final Score: OSU 24, West Virginia 19 (7-2, 4-2 Big 12)
Week 11: vs. TCU (Nov. 13)
Few programs in the conference have done more with less than TCU under the direction of longtime head coach Gary Patterson, who has compiled a 178-74 record in 20 seasons at TCU. Patterson, who took over for the team’s bowl game at the end of 2000 season, has coached a Horned Frogs team as a member of four different conferences — the WAC, Conference USA, the Mountain West, and now the Big 12.
TCU quarterback Max Duggan is one of the Big 12’s best returning players, having rushed for 1,081 yards and thrown for 3,871 yards in his two seasons at the helm in Fort Worth. The defense, though young, returns several talent players such as Big 12 Defensive Freshman of the Year, defensive lineman Khari Coleman. TCU has defeated OSU in three of their last four meetings.
Final Score: OSU 28, TCU 27 (8-2, 5-2 Big 12)
