Week 3: at Boise State (Sept. 18)

The first and only time that these two teams met was in 2018, when the Cowboys handed the Broncos a 44-21 loss in the friendly confines of Boone Pickens Stadium.

The Broncos, exemplified by the “Statue of Liberty” Fiesta Bowl upset win against the Sooners, are typically one of the most competitive non-power conference teams in the country. Boise State has appeared in four consecutive Mountain West title games, winning two of them (2017 and 2019). This year’s Broncos, led by star playmakers such as wideout Kahlil Shakir, figure to provide OSU with one of its toughest non-Big 12 road tests since a 2012 visit to Arizona.

Final Score: OSU 37, Boise State 31 (3-0)

Week 4: Home vs. Kansas State (Sept. 25)

The Wildcats have struggled recently, finishing with a losing record in two of the past three seasons, and are in head coach Chris Klieman’s third season after replacing the legendary Bill Snyder.

OSU owns this all-time series 41-26 against its old Big Eight foe. The Wildcats won nine in a row against the Pokes from 1990 to 2002, but OSU has since won nine of the previous 14 meetings. Last season, OSU held on for a 20-18 victory on the road against a K-State squad that finished with a 4-6 record.

Final Score: OSU 30, Kansas State 17  (4-0, 1-0 Big 12)
