Oklahoma State football: Predicting where top prospects land in 2021 Draft
By John Scimeca
Chuba Hubbard bolted out of the gate early and often during the 2019 season, leading the nation in rushing for the season while averaging 161.4 rushing yards per game. He also led the FBS in all-purpose yards per game and in 200-yard rushing games.
The Alberta, Canada native has shown great elusiveness and the ability to break plays wide-open in the defensive secondary. One wrong step or a wrong pursuit angle by a defensive back could result in a highlight reel for OSU and Hubbard. The outgoing OSU junior finished eighth in Heisman voting after the 2019 season.
Hubbard was affected by injuries this past season as junior and finished with relatively disappointing numbers after his nation-leading tear as a sophomore.
The Cincinnati Bengals are certainly in the market for a running back heading in this offseason — Joe Mixon suffered an injury-plagued 2020 campaign and backup rusher Gio Bernard recently signed with Tampa Bay. If the 4-11-1 squad is looking for a solid boost to its offense behind second-year quarterback Joe Burrow, taking Hubbard in the middle rounds of the 2021 NFL Draft would be a good move.
