1. New Orleans Privateers

Result: 117-72 Win

Opponent Seed in NCAA Tournament: 16

The Privateers were one of the surprises to make the NCAA Tournament. They fell short against Mount St. Mary’s in a play-in game tonight, part of the first four in the 2017 NCAA Tournament.

OK State handled the Privateers at Gallagher-Iba Arena early in the season. It seemed like OK State’s offense could not be stopped early in the season. The Cowboys scored at least 100 points in five games early on this season.

Senior forward Leyton Hammonds put together one of his best games of the out-of-conference portion of the schedule with 15 points and 13 rebounds.

UNO did not stand much of a chance against the Cowboys, as they trailed OK State 68-36 at halftime. Yet, UNO was the first eventual NCAA Tournament team that the Cowboys faced during the 2016-17 college basketball season.

They did not last very long, getting knocked out of the Big Dance in the first night of action. Yet, even making the NCAA Tournament is a big deal for a smaller basketball program like UNO.
