The Oklahoma State basketball team will figure out very soon who they face in the Round of 64 in the 2017 NCAA Tournament.

Selection Sunday is finally here. After a rough end to the season, previous to the NCAA Tournament, the Oklahoma State basketball team is currently on a three-game losing streak. OK State projects as a nine seed by ESPN, CBS Sports, Bleacher Report, and Fox Sports.

That leaves a pretty clear idea of where the college basketball world feels the Pokes belong in the NCAA Tournament. An eight seed does not seem like it’s out of the question because of the quality of losses for the Cowboys on their three-game losing streak. Their three losses came against the no. 23 ranked and eventual Big 12 Tournament Champions Iowa State Cyclones, along with the Big 12 Regular Season Title winners and no. 1 ranked Kansas Jayhawks.

The Clones get the automatic bid from the Big 12 for the NCAA Tournament with their conference championship. However, they would have gotten an at-large bid either way.

KU’s position in the eyes of the Selection Committee is more in flux that ISU’s. Since the Jayhawks lost to the TCU Horned Frogs in the Big 12 Tournament, they might have lost their chance at grabbing a one seed, but that is unlikely to happen.

Furthermore, even with the three-game losing streak, the Cowboys still come into the NCAA Tournament on an impressive streak, winning 10 of their last 14 games.

Earlier today, we looked at the most exciting possible matchups for the Pokes in the Round of 64 in the NCAA Tournament. Soon, Cowboy basketball fans will know who they face in the first round. The OSU Alumni Center should be packed for the OK State watch party for the NCAA Tournament Selection Show.

Not too many of the matchups the Pokes have been projected to get in the Round of 64 seem too tough. ESPN projected the Pokes to face the South Carolina Gamecocks and Bleacher Report projected them to face the Arkansas Razorbacks. OK State already defeated the Razorbacks by 28 points earlier this season in the Big 12/SEC Challenge back on Jan. 28.
