The Oklahoma State basketball team announced yesterday that they will participate in the 2017 Legends Classic. The Legends Classic is to be played in the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY, on Nov. 20-21. There are four teams participating in the Legends Classic that will host a regional round game including the Penn State Nittany Lions, Pittsburgh Panthers, Texas A&M Aggies, and the Cowboys as well.
The other teams in the pool for the Legends Classic outside of Pitt, PSU, TAMU, and OK State is the Montana Grizzlies, Pepperdine Waves, Oral Roberts Golden Eagles, and the UC Santa Barbera Gauchos.
The schedule for the regional rounds is yet to be announced. However, the Cowboys will face either Montana, Pepperdine, Oral Roberts, or UC Santa Barbera. If they play Oral Roberts, it would be cool to see an in-state matchup in the regional round.
It’s exciting to see OK State basketball in another big name Tournament/Classic next season since they participated in the Maui Jim Maui Invitational this season. Head coach Brad Underwood could get the program some more national attention with a solid performance in an event like the Legends Classic. Moreover, the Cowboys look to put forward as talented, if not more, of a team of all the teams in the field next season.
Look out for more of the 2017-18 OK State basketball schedule to get unveiled within the next two months. However, there’s still quite a bit of the 2016-17 college basketball season yet to be played.
