6. Texas Longhorns

Season: 2013

Date: Nov. 16, 2013

Result: Oklahoma State 38, Texas 13

Nobody expected the Cowboys to come into Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium and dominate the Texas Longhorns, who were ranked no. 24 at the time, the way they did. Chelf continued his great efforts that continued OK State’s winning streak to six games, in 2013, after beating UT.

An interception of Horns’ quarterback Case McCoy by Justin Gilbert right before halftime gave the Cowboys a 28-10 lead, and OK State never looked back.

The Cowboy defense held strong all day against McCoy and the Longhorn receivers found no space as star receiver Jaxon Shipley struggled as well. OK State’s running backs Jeremy Smith and Desmond Roland had much better games than Joe Bergeron and company for UT.

The game never got closer than a 15 point margin in the Cowboys’ favor in the second half.

However, the Cowboys would only win one more game in 2013 after beating the Horns. They were upset by OU and then lost the Cotton Bowl to the Missouri Tigers to stamp a disappointing finish on what looked to be a promising season.
