8. West Virginia Mountaineers

Location: Morgantown, WV

All-Time Football Record: 4-4

The West Virginia Mountaineers are the furthest team geographically from OK State. However, WVU always gives OK State some of the best competition in football and basketball. The Cowboys got one of their biggest wins of the season, in basketball, against WVU in Morgantown. WVU also lost to the Pokes in BPS in the 2016 Homecoming Game.

Yet, Pokes fans remember some darker memories of playing WVU in football and basketball in the last few seasons. The Mountaineers are an incredibly tough out in basketball with Bob Huggins at the helm and their nickname of “Press Virginia”.

WVU defeated OK State two years in a row in 2013 and 2014. The Cowboys’ loss to WVU in 2013 signaled one of the biggest upsets of the season. If not for a loss to WVU, OK State had a legit shot at a BCS Title Game and would have won the Big 12 title. The defeat in 2014 was a sign of a bigger problem as it was the worst Cowboy football season in recent memory.

While WVU is the furthest school away from Stillwater, they always gives fans an entertaining game to watch, whether it be football or basketball.
