Oklahoma State Basketball: Bleacher Report Bracketology has Pokes as 7 seed
The Oklahoma State basketball team is on a role right now having won three straight which led Bleacher Report to project them as a seven seed.
The Oklahoma State basketball team has fans in Stillwater more excited about the program than they have been in quite a while. Head coach Brad Underwood has instilled a sense of pride and hope for not only the coming years but for the very near future for this team. OK State has a three game winning streak and they have also won eight of their last nine games.
ESPN’s BPI and RPI rankings have been very positive for the Pokes of late where they rank no lower than 29th in either. A top 20 strength of schedule also gives the Cowboys some added punch to their NCAA Tournament resume.
Key wins over teams like the no. 12 West Virginia Mountaineers, no. 25 Wichita State Shockers, TCU Horned Frogs, and Arkansas Razorbacks gives the Pokes the quality wins they need for a good resume as well. Also having a leader like star sophomore point guard Jawun Evans to spearhead your offense does not hurt either. He also just won Big 12 Player of the Week.
Bleacher Report released their latest Bracketology earlier today where the Pokes were projected to get the seven seed. BR also placed OK State in the Midwest Region, playing their first round contest in Greenville, SC. In this situation they’re projected to face the no. 10 seed Marquette Golden Eagles who currently own a 16-10 record with an RPI ranking of 71.
Even more intriguing than landing a seven seed is who OK State would likely play in the second round if they got past Marquette. BR projects the Duke Blue Devils as a two seed in the Midwest Region which means they would play the Cowboys. Duke and OK State are two of the hottest teams in the country right now.
It would also be cool for OK State basketball fans to get to see the Cowboys take on Duke and North Carolina in the same season.
ESPN’s Joe Lunardi’s Bracketology for this week should be out in just a matter of days which will give another good glimpse into where the Pokes stand with the NCAA Tournament Selection Committee right now.

Before the NCAA Tournament comes around the Pokes do still have some business to take care of. They still have four more regular season games and the Big 12 Tournament before Selection Sunday.
