7. Tralund Webber

Position: Defensive End

Year: Redshirt Sophomore

Rising sophomore defensive end Tralund Webber had a sneaky good freshman season last year. He registered six sacks and 21 combined tackles as he ended up having one of the best seasons of any defensive ends on the Cowboy roster.

Yet, it’s important for Webber to have another solid Spring as the defensive end job is nowhere near secured for any player. Cole Walterscheid and Jarrell Owens still have a great shot at getting the starting spots as well. And while Walterscheid and Owens are the most experienced defensive ends outside of Webber, they totaled less than five sacks combined between the two of them.

Webber does have the strongest body of work of any pass rusher returning for the Cowboys in 2017. The Pokes are searching for another player to maybe fill the shoes that former Cowboy star Emmanuel Ogbah did just a few years ago. However, filling Ogbah’s shoes is not as easy task for anyone.

The hardest part for defensive ends in Spring Practice is the lack of really getting to rush the passer. You don’t get nearly the same intensity as you would in an actual game.
