8. Madre Harper

Position: Cornerback

Year: Sophomore

Rising sophomore cornerback Madre Harper is an interesting situation for the Cowboys. He got some playing time during his freshman campaign last season but not enough to make an impact with defensive coordinator Glenn Spencer.

Harper signed with Gundy as part of the 2016 recruiting class as a three-star cornerback. He has good height for a cornerback at 6’1″ but he needs to add a few pounds since he registered at 175 pounds at his last weigh in.

OK State loses their best cover cornerback in Ashton Lampkin so the defense needs a player like Harper to step in and fill the role. Harper stepped in last Spring as an early enrollee and looked very solid in the 2016 Spring Football Game. Another performance like that could earn him quite a bit of playing time in the Fall.

If Harper does land a starting job in the Fall he likely starts opposite senior cornerback Ramon Richards who has a ton of experience but also a ton of inconsistencies during his career.
