9. Patrick Macon

Position: Linebacker

Year: Junior (JUCO Transfer)

JUCO transfer linebacker Patrick Macon comes into the Cowboy football program at a much needed time for the position. OK State loses both Jordan Burton and Devante Averette so Macon has the ability to come in and immediately make an impact.

Macon is one of five early enrollees from Gundy’s 2017 recruiting class. He was also one of the few JUCO transfers in this class as well. Macon transferred from Arizona Western Community College where he won NJCAA Defensive Player of the Year.

This spring gives Macon a huge opportunity to play immediately on a defense that could be really good this season. The linebacker position is one that has possibly the most question marks of any position on OK State’s defense. However, the Pokes did recruit extremely well to fill that void this year.

Macon also gets the chance to learn from a talented and experienced Cowboy linebacker in rising senior Chad Whitener who elected to stay another season at OK State.
