10. John Kolar

Position: Quarterback

Year: Redshirt Sophomore

Kolar originally signed with the Cowboys as part of the 2015 recruiting class. Since his time in Stillwater he has not had too much of a chance to prove himself to Gundy or offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich. This could be the year for him since this will be Rudolph’s last season with the Pokes.

The Spring Game is a perfect opportunity for a player like Kolar to make his mark with the Cowboys. He is likely to battle Cornelius for the backup spot to Rudolph. However, Kolar was more highly recruited than Cornelius, coming into Stillwater as a four-star commit from Norman North High School in Norman, OK.

Kolar has a much different style than that of Rudolph or Cornelius. He is more elusive but lacks the consistency right now to hit his receivers on most plays. Yet, it’s hard to completely judge a player before they’re given a chance in an actual game. Kolar will also need to put on some weight to compete at the Power Five Conference level since he is only 6’4″ and 200 pounds. With the inconsistencies the Cowboy offensive line had in the last two seasons, he could get roughed up quite a bit at that size.
