The Oklahoma State basketball team has now won seven of their last eight games after a big 71-68 road victory against the TCU Horned Frogs.

The Oklahoma State basketball team continues to be one of the hottest in the Big 12. After their big 71-68 road victory over the TCU Horned Frogs, they have won seven of their last eight games and two in a row. That road win also marks four consecutive road victories, which is the most for the Pokes since the 2012-13 season. Meanwhile, they completed their first season sweep of a Big 12 opponent for the first time since the 2014-15 season.

Head coach Brad Underwood has put together a tremendous season so far in Stillwater. OK State fans have very little to complain about as the team has already far surpassed its win total from last season, and there are still five regular season games remaining.

The big three for the Cowboys including star sophomore point guard Jawun Evans, improved junior forward Jeffrey Carroll, and sharpshooting senior shooting guard Phil Forte, all are having big years. Evans and Carroll both average better than 17.0 points per game this season and Forte is well above 13.0 points per game.

Meanwhile, the rotation behind Evans, Carroll, and Evans is solid as well. Sophomore guard Davon Dillard is experiencing a breakout season. Senior forwards Mitchell Solomon and Leyton Hammonds have really come on late. These are all players Underwood will need come Big 12 and NCAA Tournament time. The Pokes need all the wins they can get to help their seeding on Selection Sunday.

Over the last two games, the Cowboys won by an average margin of eight points. Those two victories came against aforementioned TCU and the Texas Longhorns. The only loss the Pokes have in their last eight games came against the no. 4 Baylor Bears, and that loss came by only three points.

Up next for the Pokes is a Feb. 18 matchup with the struggling Oklahoma Sooners at Gallagher-Iba Arena in Stillwater. OK State defeated the Sooners in the first matchup when the two teams met in Norman. Extending the winning streak to three games would bring the Cowboys’ record to 18-9 (7-7 Big 12), which would make it hard for OK State to be left out of the NCAA Tournament.

Next: Initial reactions after TCU victory

It truly is an exciting time to be an OK State basketball fan because of Underwood and a talented roster in front of him. Let’s hope for a great finish for the remainder of the regular season.
