The Match Up: These two programs have a lot in common. Both typically thrive in the recruiting rankings and preseason polls. Then both typically lose inexplicably to someone they should not lose to. Then both typically rally later in the year and give fans reason to hope that a national title is around the corner. Bob Stoops and Mark Richt could share some stories.
This would be a battle of terrific running backs. The Sooners’ freshman sensation Samaje Perine versus Georgia’s ferocious Nick Chubb would be a delight. The edge would go to Oklahoma with a slightly superior passing game. But both of these teams are tough to figure. Score: Oklahoma 32 Georgia 29
Likely or Not: Oklahoma has visited Notre Dame and Georgia has visited Clemson. That shows at least a willingness to play these types of games. The better question would be if this match up would actually have national title implications or would it be just another interesting game.
