6 Players to Watch: Oklahoma State Football
By Zach Collums
The season is soon approaching, and Oklahoma State is full of players with little to no experience or starts. So knowing who will perform for the Cowboys is up in the air for most fans.
Today on Pokes Post, we will be looking at the six players to watch for on offense and defense for Oklahoma State
1.)Tyreek Hill- This choice is particularly easy. Hill will be the most dynamic running back that the Cowboys have this season. His unparalleled speed and versatility, going from running back to slot receiver, makes him one of the players that will be hard to miss with this explosive Oklahoma State offense.
2.)Jhajuan Seales- Seales is one of many receivers for the Cowboys that could really do some damage in this offense heavy conference. Seales has the experience from last season and the physical attributes needed to be a star for OSU. With J.W. Walsh being the starter for this upcoming game and season, Seales will be looked to take some of the pressure off Walsh with his unique abilities.
3.)Desmond Roland- Along with Tyreek Hill, Desmond Roland is one of the more solid talents that the offense has to look forward to in a “rebuilding” year. Roland showed in spurts last year that he has the speed and football IQ to be a successful running back at OSU and along with Hill in the backfield, the running game for the Cowboys should be one of the better tandems in the conference.
4.) James Castleman- The defensive line for the Cowboys is probably the deepest part of the team as far as the depth chart and experience goes and Castleman is their leader. He is the best talent that the Cowboys have on the interior and in a year with a defense that will struggle with the leaving of players, Castleman’s talent and leadership will be sorely needed for OSU.
5.) Jimmy Bean – Going along with the fact that the defensive line is the deepest part of the Cowboys’ squad, Jimmy Bean will be another player on a struggling defense who will need to and will probably shine at his position, defensive end. Most people remember him for his efforts in the Cotton Bowl, where he totaled seven tackles, three tackles for loss and a sack. Bean ended the season with 34 total tackles so he can be expected to up his total and give the Cowboys a solid anchor on the edge of the defensive line.
6.) J.W. Walsh- I could put another defensive player or offensive player, and maybe a player who is more mysterious or experienced, but we all will be looking to see what Walsh does during this upcoming season. Walsh’s leadership has been said to have improved in the off-season as well has his throwing mechanics, but we won’t know for sure how Walsh will play until he is out on the field. Walsh will be the center of everyone’s attention each game until he doesn’t start but it will be interesting to see if Walsh can play well and play well for a complete season.
