Ra’Shaad Samples posted a 4.32 40 yard dash at scrimmage earlier this week. What is to be known as the new Freshman record. You can see that acclamation made by Mr. Samples himself on his twitter feed:

He has had a few teammates confirm what was speculated as just somebody over-hyping themselves. This, however, seems pretty legit. Though, we still have not heard officially from any of the Oklahoma State staff. Ra’Shaad was a highly recruited receiver out of high school. He was by many a 4 star recruit. At 5’11 and lightening fast speed, Samples could be that slot receiver that the Pokes can drive down the middle of the field with methodically and open up the outside receivers for 1 on 1 coverage down field. This could only make an explosive offense even more explosive!

A lot is yet to be seen for this year’s Pokes offense. A new offensive coordinator in Mike Yurcich.  Who is the starting QB, JW Walsh or Clint Chelf? Can Jeremy Smith and Desmond Roland step up and do to Big 12 defenses what Jo Randle did? One thing is for sure, the Pokes have an all conference receiver, yet again, in Josh Stewart and a blistering fast Freshman receiver in Ra’Shaad Samples.

Samples and Marcel Ateman look to get rotated in with the receiving corp during games this season. Samples and Ateman are both highly recruited WRs and Freshmen who look to keep the Wide Receiver position in the national spotlight in Stillwater.

A lot still to be determined. Who will emerge as the play maker(s) early on for the Pokes? There are plenty of capable play making players on this team. Which makes this team even more scarier.

2013 will undoubtedly be an interesting year in the Big 12. Especially, when you have people running 4.32 forties.
