The Oklahoma State baseball team faces the South Dakota State Jackrabbits in a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. CT tomorrow due to today’s postponement.

The Oklahoma State baseball program started off their two-game series with South Dakota State yesterday on the wrong foot. SDSU defeated the Cowboys 2-1 at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium. OK State struggled both on the field and with the bat yesterday.

The Cowboys only managed two hits and one run against SDSU’s starting pitcher Brady Stover, who notched his first victory of the season. Tyler Buffett threw 6 1/3 innings with only one earned run, but that was not enough for the Pokes. OK State’s pitching staff only allowed one run on the day considering the other run was unearned due to a Cowboy error.

Jake Cowan and Cole Hearran continued their solid work out of the bullpen this season, closing out the game with 2 2/3 shutout innings pitched.

First baseman Dustin Williams knocked home the only run scored from third baseman Garrett Benge. Besides Benge, second baseman Andrew Rosa and designated hitter Colin Simpson were the only two Cowboys with a hit yesterday.

Today’s matchup with SDSU was postponed due to wet field conditions from the rain. The game is moved to tomorrow as OK State has a doubleheader with the Jackrabbits starting at 1 p.m. CT at Allie P.

Jensen Elliott is expected to pitch in the first leg of tomorrow’s doubleheader. OK State enters tomorrow’s matchup with a 7-6 record, after dropping the first game of the series yesterday.

OK State still has seven games remaining in their current home stand, ending on March 21 against Bedlam rival the Oklahoma Sooners.

Things have not gone as expected for the Cowboys in the first 13 games of the 2017 campaign. After a College World Series berth in 2016, the Pokes have not met expectations as a Big 12 contender and preseason top 25 team.
