The Oklahoma State wrestling program continued their dominance with decisive victories over Edinboro and Kent State over the weekend.

The no. 1 Oklahoma State wrestling program continued their dominance of the college wrestling world last weekend by sweeping Edinboro and Kent State, both by double digits. OK State will maintain their no. 1 ranking once again as we get closer and closer to the NCAA Wrestling Championships in March.

OK State’s first matchup came against no. 24 Edinboro on Friday, Feb. 3. Edinboro’s 125-pound and no. 9 ranked Sean Russell defeated OK State’s no. 12 ranked Nick Piccininni 3-2. However, that would be one of only three round victories for Edinboro.

No. 3 ranked Kaid Brock would start a dominant streak four straight round victories for the Pokes. No. 1 ranked Dean Heil dominated Edinboro’s Ozzy Lugo in the 141-pound weight class.

The Cowboys ended the night with a 24-12 victory over Edinboro to claim their first victory of the weekend. It would also be the toughest test of the weekend.

Kent State did not put up much of a fight against the Cowboys on Saturday, Feb. 4. The Pokes defeated the Golden Flashes by the score of 36-6 to continue OK State’s undefeated season.

Anthony Collica had one of the most dominant performances of the match against KSU, pinning his opponent in the 149-pound weight class.

Meanwhile, Chandler Rogers responded from a bad performance in the match against Edinboro, getting seven takedowns against KSU’s Jared Walker in the 165-pound weight class.

Up next for the Cowboys is a meeting with the Wyoming Cowboys on Feb. 10 at Gallagher-Iba Arena in Stillwater. Two days after that the Pokes have their home meeting with the Oklahoma Sooners, in the final leg of Bedlam wrestling for the 2016-17 campaign.

Last weekend was the final set of road matches for the Pokes season. They now have two matches in Stillwater before they move into the NWCA Bowl Series, Big 12 Championships, and then the NCAA Wrestling Championships.
