Oklahoma State Softball: Cowgirls announce TV Schedule for 2017

The Oklahoma State Cowgirls softball program faces heightened expectations in 2017 earning themselves a no. 27 preseason ranking.

The Oklahoma State softball program enters 2017 with greater expectations than they had heading into the 2016 season. Quite a bit of news regarding the NCAA softball world has been announced over the last 24 hours. Moreover, the TV schedule for the 2017 season for the Cowgirls was announced as well.

OK State’s first televised game in 2017 is against the LSU Tigers on Feb. 12 on the SEC Network. Other notable televised games include three matchups against the Texas Longhorns on Fox Sports Plus and Fox Sports Oklahoma. Two Bedlam matchups with the Oklahoma Sooners on May 3 and May 6 are televised on ESPNU. Overall, 11 games total featuring the Cowgirls’ softball team will be televised on the Fox Sports family of networks, SEC Network, or ESPNU.

Even out of state Pokes fans will be able to enjoy some of the Cowgirls softball games during the 2017 season.

Two Big 12 teams were featured in the USA Today 2017 preseason NCAA softball top 25 rankings. The Sooners received unanimous votes for the no. 1 ranking and the Baylor Bears were the only other Big 12 team in the top 25 at no. 21. Furthermore, the Cowgirls and Longhorns received votes just outside the top 25. OK State received 22 votes to get a no. 27 ranking.

The Tulsa Golden Hurricane also received votes in the top 25 poll. TU and OK State face either in a televised game on April 5 on Fox College Sports.

The Cowgirls kick off their 2017 campaign against McNeese State on Feb. 10 at 11 a.m. CT, part of the Tiger Classic in Baton Rouge, LA. They will also face LSU and Penn State in the same span of three days between Feb. 10-12.

Their first home game at Cowgirl Stadium comes against the Arkansas Razorbacks on March 1. Then the Pokes host the first Classic of the season in Stillwater facing Abilene Christian, Tennessee Tech, and Northern Iowa, as part of the Mizuno Classic at Cowgirl Stadium.
