Yesterday, pro-style quarterback Malcolm Rodriguez committed to OK State, which gives the Pokes three quarterback commits in this class.

The Cowboys 2017 class currently ranks second among all Big 12 teams, according to 247Sports. They’re ranked 29th in the overall class rankings for 2017. Furthermore, the OK State class is tied with the Oklahoma Sooners for the most commits of any recruiting class in the Big 12.

More from Pokes Post

This is one of the deepest classes the Cowboys have put together over the last five years. And there is still a lot of time left before National Signing Day for the Pokes to add more commits. The 2016 recruiting class for the Pokes had 22 commits, so the Cowboys only need one more commit to match that number.

There is a large mixture of talent in this class. Only one four-star prospect is committed right now. There are 17 three-star commits and three two-stars. Twin brothers Tylan and Tracin Wallace are the best commits the Pokes have landed so far. Tylan Wallace is the only four-star commit.

If the Cowboys are victorious tomorrow against the Sooners, they could gain enough momentum to possibly attract a few more commitments. There will be quite a few people watching the Bedlam game tomorrow in Norman. A win could also get Oklahoma State a possible shot at the College Football Playoff or a Sugar Bowl berth.

Some other names to watch out for in this class are Canadian running back Chuba Hubbard, quarterback Jelani Woods, defensive tackle Brendon Evers, and safety Kris McCune. This could also be considered one of the Cowboys most underrated classes in school history. Head coach Mike Gundy has done a great job to find some under the radar talent to sign. Finding sleeper prospects has been a trademark for Oklahoma State’s recruiting style over the last 10 years.
