Part four of a five-part series by Sports Illustrated accusing Oklahoma State University of numerous improprieties has been released to the public. This portion alleges that a hostess program called Orange Pride provided sex to recruits in order to “woo” them.
Artrell Woods, former Oklahoma State wide receiver from 2006-2008, told Sports Illustrated, “the idea was to get (recruits) to think if they came to (Oklahoma State) it was going to be like that all the time, with all these girls wanting to (be) with you.”
Former OSU coach, and current LSU coach, Les Miles, is specifically accused of having been involved with the Orange Pride program. The report states that membership in the program “tripled as the organization became a key recruiting tool.”
Les Miles responded via email. He stated in the email, “The volunteers’ role in our program was important and I wanted to stress how seriously we took their duties and responsibilities and the manner in which we expected those students to conduct themselves if they were selected for Orange Pride.” Miles also stated, “I am not aware of this ever happening”–sex being provided to recruits–”and I am quite sure that no staff member was aware of recruits sleeping with this group of students or any other students.”
