With the media in an absolute craze over a Sports Illustrated report accusing Oklahoma State University of numerous indecencies, the Cowboys must focus on their home opener coming up Saturday against Lamar.
Mike Gundy has already said the players “couldn’t care less”, we shall find out this weekend if this is indeed true, and whether or not the negative media attention is putting a damper on the Pokes’ morale in the locker room.
Let’s take a look at their opponent, Lamar…
Lamar shutout Division II school Oklahoma Panhandle State 75-0 in their first game of the season, only to fall at Louisiana Tech this past weekend 27-14. Their key player is wide receiver Kevin Johnson, who transferred to Lamar from OSU after the 2011 season. So far this season, he has 74 total receiving yards, 162 kick return yards and two touchdowns.
Lamar will be facing their toughest opponent so far this season at Oklahoma State. A raucous crowd in Stillwater will be deafening to say the least, and the Cowboys are the favorites to win the Big 12. Coming off of a loss to Louisiana Tech, it’s hard to believe Lamar has a good chance of knocking off the Pokes’ at Boone Pickens Stadium. What everyone will be watching for, however, is to see if Oklahoma State is distracted at all when on the field by the recent allegations making headlines nation-wide.
Kickoff is 7:30 p.m. Eastern Time.
