It’s about time the Oklahoma State Cowboys turn it up a few notches and contest some of the best outside of the Big 12 during the regular season more often. We got to see an epic match-up against Stanford in the 2012 Fiesta Bowl, arguably one of the best bowl games of the season. The Pokes are already very entertaining to watch, but putting them against some of the most dangerous teams outside of the Big 12 could make for some classic games.
Here’s the opponents outside of the Big 12 Oklahoma State has to look forward to facing off against in the future:
2013: Mississippi State (neutral location), at Texas-San Antonio, Lamar.
2014: Florida State (neutral location), Texas-San Antonio, Missouri State.
2015: Central Arkansas, Texas-San Antonio, at Central Michigan.
2016: Central Michigan, McNeese State.
2017: at South Alabama, Rice, Tulsa.
2018: South Alabama, Central Michigan.
2020: South Alabama.
Sure, the upcoming game against Mississippi State in Houston should be nothing short of awesome, but the game I’m looking forward to the most is the 2014 Cowboys Classic against Florida State in Arlington, Texas. The crowd will be electric in Cowboys Stadium, and to think if both teams are ranked in the top 25, things will be even more dramatic. This could potentially be one of the most vocal crowds in the history of the Cowboys Classic.
Hopefully this paves the way for future regular season match-ups like Oklahoma State vs. Alabama, Oklahoma State vs. Notre Dame, or Oklahoma State vs. Florida. The future is looking very bright in Stillwater.
