Marcus Smart to NBA?

The question every Oklahoma State fan wants a straight-up answer to: Is Marcus Smart leaving us?

As all Oklahoma State basketball fans anxiously await a definitive answer, we are still without a “yes” or “no” from the outlandishly talented underclassman.

Not only may the Big 12 player of the year Marcus Smart be on his way to the NBA,  Markel Brown and Le’Bryan Nash are also weighing out their options.  To lose all three would be a major blow to the team leading into their 2013-14 season.

Smart, if he indeed does decide to make the jump, is projected to be drafted as high as No. 2 overall, while Brown is projected as a top 100 pick.  Nash is presently listed as a second-round pick, respectively.

This trio returning for another run in the NCAA would undoubtedly bolster the Cowboys’ chances at a Final-Four bid, not to mention give them an opportunity to redeem themselves after their second-round upset loss to 12 seed Oregon in the NCAA tournament.  The shocking loss put a blemish on many fans’ and experts’ brackets alike.

However, assuming all three athletes ride off into the sunset and join the big league, deservedly so, this would unfortunately call for a lot of rebuilding in Stillwater.

Le’Bryan Nash displayed his personal hankering for a return next season, stating after the loss to Oregon that it would quote “be scary” if all three were to come back.  I share Mr. Nash’s sentiment.  One can only hope, but hey, if just one or all three of them are infact NBA bound, Orange Nation is proud to say, “those are our guys”.
